The listing, Spider (Mystery) lily bulbs (5-20-1) has ended.
8 spider lily bulbs, also known as mystery and surprise lilies; botanical name Lycoris radiate. For years these lilies were usually found in old gardens, yards, cemeteries. Now many nurseries carry them; other colors are available from sources, especially outside the US. Late fall, narrow, green, straplike leaves emerge, stay all winter, and disappear by spring. Here in Hot Springs National Park, around September 20 a stalk appears suddenly and unfurls its red, curvy petals and stamens. Blooms only stay a short time, and disappear until next September. Since there are several weeks when these plants are invisible, it is necessary to remember where they are planted. Bulbs should be planted so top of each bulb neck is right or just above soil surface. US zones 6-10. Full or half sun. Please note that this is a five day auction, rather then the 10 days we normally list.
