TThis is an ARC book written by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg. It was released on April 19, 2016 from Flatiron Books. On the cover it says that this book was written to help parents find spirituality in "the frustration, boredom, tears, poop, desperation, wonder, and radical amazement of parenting."
Danya Ruttenberg has been named one of ten "rabbis to watch" by Newsweek and one of the "50 most influential women rabbis" by The Forward. Her writing has appeared in many publications including The New York Times and The Atlantic.
This book can provide encouragement to anyone who spends time with children regardless of their religious denomination. However, the content is written from personal experiences as a Jewish mother and most of the spiritual references are Jewish. While I'm not Jewish or even all that religious, the author described having feelings and emotions that were almost identical to how I felt but would never, ever admit to having. Reading this book has helped me to finally get over the guilt I have lived with for years and enabled me to be a much better, happier, and more confident grandmother than I ever thought possible! If you are struggling as a parent, grandparent, caregiver, teacher, or in whatever role you play, then I highly recommend you read this book. It will give you a fresh perspective on your child's or any child's behavior.
