You must pay for the service with verizon wireless. You can plug this card into your laptop and you can actually travel on the road no problem. It performs outstandingly! No slow connection and it was wonderful when I had it. Comes with disk, instruction, and card. You must call verizon to add the service for a monthly fee.

It was somewhere around 50 or 60 unlimited amount of time. What made it awesome was that you got to go anywhere around the US with great reception, SERIOUSLY! You could even be in a car on the highway and would not lose connection.

Do they do prepaid monthly plans without contract?

I know that they only require a contract if they give you the above item for free. Otherwise if you buy it from me and just purchase a plan from them there is no contract. However, I do not know if they do a prepaid plan. Sorry. I am sure you could call and find out.

I read in an article that there may need to be a contract still. I am not sure. It says one year instead of two in order to activate the item. I am not sure because when I bought it the lady said if I paid for it I didn't need to have a contract. Anyway, I would ask everyone to do there own research and make sure this item is really for them.
