A fast-growing annual (perennial in zones 9 - 10) climber, with bright yellow blossoms that actually DO resemble canaries. Growing to a height of 10', I would highly recommend a trellis, but these can also be allowed to sprawl across the ground. Full sun to part shade. Related to the nasturtium, the flowers, leaves, and fruit are edible!

what zone is NJ?

Depending on which part of the state, New Jersey would be zone 6 - 7. It's getting confusing, though, because global warming/climate change is really screwing up the zone designations.
In New Jersey, this plant would be an annual outdoors. However, if overwintered indoors or in a garage/shed, it could be perennial for many years.
