Description

The listing, Vintage Zippers has ended.

The winner of the auction will get the 15 Vintage Zippers as shown in the photos. They are new/unused in their original package. All but 2 are old enough to not have bar codes, and prices were 40 cents, 70 cents, $1.05, $1.15 & $1.20 originally. I have no idea what they cost now, as I do not sew.

I have broken them down by size in the photos, so you can see what there is and the colors. Sizes are (9) 7", (2) 9", (2) 14", (1) 16" & (1) 22".

If you have any questions, I will do my best to answer them.

After the auction ends I will mail the zippers within 3 days of receiving your address with tracking. Weekends and holidays excluded. I only ship in the U.S. Sorry, no exceptions. Depending on cost, it may be shipped media mail.

I am setting a start price to help compensate for shipping. I have been spending a fortune on postage lately for low points. Remember, I can buy points at 9700 points for $1.00 (6/02/16). Items cost a minimum of $2.50 to ship with tracking. Almost always close to $3.00 or more plus materials.

Smoke-free, Dog friendly home.

If no GIN is listed, it is not an option on this auction. Please don't ask. Private messages are ignored.

Feedback will be left after you do, so I know you are happy with our transaction.

I am currently at my limit to fan people. But, if you fan me, I will fan you back when I am able.

Are they metal (vintage) or nylon?

Thank you for asking. I don't sew, so I had no idea what info. to include in my post. Some say metal zipper (2), (1) is not marked but is clearly a metal zipper, and (12) others say 100% polyester or nylon coil zipper. I hope that is helpful.

Ok. Thank you. Zippers used to all be metal. Then garments switched to nylon and then polyester zippers. They tried the new on slacks but they couldn't endure the stress.
So slacks/jeans have gone back to metal as well as many coats as well as upholstery.
If you find any zippers rolled and in a small plastic containers, around 2 " in diameter and height they are rare. They are pre 1950 style and I collect them for my antique sewing museum

There was a box of zippers. My friend's daughter came and took most of them. She sews for a theater company. She was really excited about the really long ones. I had 27 boxes of material alone! I brought home 7 truck loads of stuff from a hoarder friend's house when I helped her pack for a long distance move. Ton's of pattern's, buttons on cards. There were receipts in there from 1954, but a lot of the stuff was newer. I let friends pick through it, I kept a small amount (I've been telling myself I'll learn to sew for 30 years now), a few things to list here, and the rest went in the driveway and up on Craigslist. I just wanted it all out of here, but not in the landfill. Your museum sounds like a work of love.
