Description

The listing, SEA ONION~N*O*T PREGNANT ONION~RARE~RARE~RARE!! GREAT!! has ended.

Here today, we have a VERY RARE and HARD TO FIND plant!!!!!!!!! It is called a SEA ONION. This is N*O*T a "PREGNANT ONION"--although, I believe they are "kinned" somewhere down the line.
This plant is popular in traditional African medicine and forklore, and grows naturally in the wild in Africa. They use it to treat everything from heart conditions to infertility. They have used it soooo much, that it is actually in danger of being wiped out and extinct in the wild. This bulb has been propagated from tissue--
This is a completely fascinating plant. I FINALLY found a couple of bulbs to purchase (after many months of searching for it). Upon getting the bulbs, I simply planted it exactly as you would a pregnant onion--HALF WAY UP THE BULB--being careful NOT to bury the bulb. I put it in the greenhouse and did not have to wait long before--WAAAA-LAAA---I had GROWTH. This plant has very FINE feathery growth that comes out of the top of the bulb.
The bulb on this one is about the size of a gumball and can (an do) grow very much larger---as it stores moisture in the bulb itself.
This plant needs well drained soil (as to not ROT the bulb). I suggest even with well draining potting soil, to add a small amount of SAND---which is what this one has and is growing in!!!
This plant can be grown in a pot (can NOT be planted in the yard). You CAN place it outside in the summer--but it must NOT be exposed to afternoon sun!!!! MORNING SUN ONLY!! It must be brought INSIDE in winter months.
You will receive the plant shown in the aove photos--WITHOUT the POT--POT NOT INCLUDED!! It will be sent with enough soil and moisture for a safe trip. I do suggest that you have your soil and a suitable small pot ready to plant it upon arrival.

SORRY---I WILL N*O*T DO A GIN!!

I OFFER FREE SHIPPING to save you $$$$!!

GOOD LUCK and HAPPY GARDENING!!

Hey Sam---I AGREE. It's a cool plant. I didn't know it existed either and a girlfriend was telling me about it---she had one, years ago. After a very long time and many weeks of searching (Almost a year)---FOUND the bulbs. I got 'em--got them in the greenhouse and this is the result of all my efforts.
