Yes, I'm quite aware of that but these are factory CDs and some people like them. I have ALL the current releases of Ubuntu, Mandrake, Red Hat, SuSe, Caldera, and others. I have them in Live DVD format as well as Live USB format so you can simply plug in a USB Drive (4GB or better) and reboot your Windows box and be running a fully blown Linux box than can access my NTFS drives and sees my entire network. Also these older version run better on older system, which is what makes Linux so awesome. Thanks for looking.

Why not, I try them all. I'm trying Fedora, Ubuntu & CentOS, all installed on 16GB thumb drives to see how well they run on my systems. The nice thing is I don't have to blow away the drive to run them.

Colcomp, my windows xp sp2 is crashed, would I be able to reformat my emachines 6400 with this or with the redhat that your offering ? fanned, watching and will bid very soon, thanks for your time and answer.

Yes you could but you have to remember that Linux is a slightly different (however less crash prone) Operating System than Windows-XP. You can still browse the Internet, Email, watch YouTube, listen to music, etc. It just has a different look and feel to it and some people don't like it. I use Linux daily so I do notice the difference that much but you might. Either of them should run equally well on your eMachines 6400.

Yes it was and the newer releases are decent but I have my favorites, Red Hat & SuSE mainly because I use to support them and have such a good feel for them.
