Turritella Agate is from a silicated sedimentary layer that contains fossil shells of gastropods. Although this material is called "turritella" agate, the shells are most likely from the gastropod Goniobasis. Turritella are found in seas all around the world. They live in the sediment on the sea floor where they filter fine particles of food from the water. This pendant is approximately 1 1/4 inches long and has a solid .925 silver encasement and bale.

Turitella agates are a very nice brown color with the fossil shells showing through beautifully. And, as you know, brown will go with just about everything, so you don't have to worry about coordinating like you so some of the other stones that are available.
