Description

The listing, Self Pollinating Fiesta Gem Peach - 2 Seeds has ended.

I bought a box of Fiesta Gem peaches at a local outdoor Farmer's Market and boy are they delicious! I try to support local small businesses when I can and there's no comparison between the big commercial guys who sell under-ripe, hard and tasteless fruit to the big chain grocery stores, and the little guys who farm the old fashioned way and do their own vending! The quality difference shows!

If you enjoy growing your own fruit these are some seeds you should definitely grow a couple of trees from!

They are self-pollinating, so you only need one to grow peaches, but you're getting two (an added value!) so sprout and plant two trees in your yard, or give one to a loved-one as a gift.

I just sliced up a ton of peaches this morning to freeze for pies and smoothies. They're delicious mixed in a blender with 2 Tbls. yogurt, 2 heaping Tbls. vanilla ice cream, and a Tbls. honey.

Are these freestone peaches? How big are the trees at maturity?

Original
No, these aren't freestone, but they come off the pit pretty easily if you slice them vertically when ripe.

They're usually 12-15 feet tall at maturity.

how do you plant the seed do you have to split it open for the middle to be exposed?
Jun 17th, 2016 at 2:35:32 PM PDT by
Original
Yes, you open it up and there's a smaller darker seed inside. That's what you plant. These would take forever if you planted them with the outer shell on.
