Description

The listing, 5 seeds of rainbow roses has ended.

You get 5 seeds rainbow rose I bought off of the intrenet to try for myself thought I could spare some for my listia buds . Growing roses from seeds can be easier than you think ! Patience is required, but worth it !Stratify your rose seeds to encourage them to grow better. To stratify your seeds, place them on a paper towel that has been soaked in a solution that contains half water and half peroxide to prevent mold from occurring. Fold the towel to keep the seeds inside and then put them all into a resealable bag. Place the bag inside a refrigerator . Keep the seeds in the refrigerator for six to 10 weeks. Another method to stratify is to place the seeds in a tray of potting soil, cover the tray and then place it in the fridge for a few weeks.
Create a potting soil mixture that is ideal for rose-growing by filling pots or trays . Push the seeds down into the soil about 1 inch. Place them outside in direct sunlight once the threat of frost is gone and water the soil when it looks dry. The seeds will likely begin to sprout in about six weeks.
Transplant the seedlings into separate containers once they have grown a few inches tall. Be careful not to touch the plant's roots during this process. The use of a spoon may be helpful.
Apply fertilizer to the roses after you transplant them. Either purchase the variety that can be sprinkled around the plant or the type that can be added to the water. Fertilize the bush again in the spring, summer and a few weeks before frost occurs .thanks for looking

Also, you can take any, ANY white rose and dye it like these. Also, starting roses from seed is a very slow and tricky way to propagate roses to begin with. Here's some instructions anyway, just so you know what you're getting yourself into: http://scvrs.homestead.com/hybridizekb1.html

I'm not trying to be a downer, but these auctions are misleading. It's not honest.

I am so sorry to say, lynett2, but you have been taken advantage of! Sending you hugs!
These roses DO NOT naturally grow in this way. The stems of white coloured roses are injected with dye! (or the cut rose's stem is split into sections and put into different coloured water.) Depending on how old the seeds here are, they may not even germinate. IF they do, it will not come out a rose like the one in the picture. They will be simple regular roses. (not that there is anything wrong with a normal rose! ;D)

*If* people succeed at growing these up to an age where they start blooming, they'll find that the blooms aren't rainbow-ed... but it'll be too late to say anything. I know that they aren't expensive, but that's not the point. People are being deliberately misled. As someone who represents gardening, landscaping, and the entire industry as a professional, I see this as a detriment which could potentially turn people off to gardening, roses, or anything having to do with them- and it wouldn't be their fault! Most likely, they'll blame themselves for their roses not being rainbow in coloration when they bloom. The seller of these seeds has, in past auctions, recognized this- and they're still trying to mislead bidders into thinking they're going to grow out in this rainbow coloration.

You have to slice the bottom of the stems and dip them into different colored dye. They do not just grow rainbow. You can read about them here... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rainbow_rose

These grow as plain white roses people. I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with white roses, but the listing for these, the seller for these, and where every they get them from are all misleading you, maybe even misled this seller. YOU ARE BIDDING ON A WHITE ROSE. You have to DYE these yourself. People buy rainbow roses that look like this because they've been dyed. No genetics here, other than genetically, the roses are white.

seriously though, there really isnt a need to be negative and nasty about it. the information is there for anyone to read and it doesnt need to be reiterated multiple times. anyone is free to ask questions and to do research. if someone isnt confident on bidding on an item no one is forcing them to. it was also mentioned that the seeds havent been grown yet and that its unknown weather they grow as pictured as not. if you think something is crap then dont bid. there is no need to ruin it for everyone else.

its funny i come upon this listing because not more than ten minutes ago I learned how to make these on http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/rainbow-roses ...that would be awesome if these did grow this way. not sure if these seeds would but it's worth a shot at growing them. and if not they can always be dyed :)

some of you are being really rude for no reason. if you are not interested then don't bid. there is no reason for adults ( used loosely) to go out of their way to repeatedly be rude to a stranger.

i also dont believe in complaining about something that's free. if someone isnt interested they dont need to bid. information is appreciated but there is no reason to be mean about it or to ruin the fun or surprise for anyone that is. besides, your getting FREE rose seeds and FREE shipping. you cant get them for free or with free shipping if you go buy any type of rose anywhere.

i dont get why people keep repeating the same thing? maybe when they say rainbow rose it means that there are multiple types/colors of roses, not necicarily that each rose is multi colored. either way roses are beautiful and it would be a fun surprise to see how they grow. :) im fanning, watching and bidding. :)
