Up for auction is this captivating sterling silver filled ring size 9, stamped 925. The pear cut jet black onyx is stunning. Ten round cut clear white topaz form a moon shaped arc around one side of the main stone, while two oval cut topaz decorate the side bands. Beautiful, heavy filigree embellishes the bottom of the gorgeous setting. Onyx is the birthstone of February and topaz is that of November. FREE GIFT!

Hi, Help me out here please! This says 925 but is sterling silver filled? Your title says SS but then you say something about filled. It is a lovely ring and this is not a negative comment--I just am hoping you can explain how a SS filled can be 925 at the same time. I thought 925 was mostly pure SS. Thanks for your anticipated help! Very pretty.

Sterling silver is actually a precious metal typically made from 925 parts silver to 75 parts another metal—usually copper or nickel. Because pure silver is too soft to be functional, the alloy is added to harden the metal so it’s strong and durable. Sterling silver filled jewelry has a heavy layer of 925 sterling silver covering another metal, but the layer is much, much thicker than on items that are silver plated. I hope this helps.

Oh, this is 625, correct? That would explain the filled portion. It would be around 60 percent sterling, correct? My eyes are not great but it does look like 625--sorry for any confusion!
