Description

The listing, Cistanthe grandiflora flowering succulent - rock gardens, pots, mass plantings has ended.

This auction is for 3 cuttings of this beautiful plant. Reasonable GIN offers will be considered.

This plant is very easy to grow. You stick the cuttings in the soil all together or in the separate pots. They root easily and grow fast. They are great for pots, rock gardens or in mass plantings. The pictures are of my plant that is grown from cuttings and is about 3 years old. 2nd and 3rd pictures taken about 6 weeks apart, so you can see how fast it grows!

Cistanthe grandiflora aka Rock Purslane, Calandrinia grandiflora, C. spectabilis

A succulent plant, native to Chile, that forms mounds to 1 foot tall by 3 feet wide of fleshy gray-green leaves to 4 to 6 inches long. In spring through fall, rising on delicate 2-3 foot tall stems, emerge the 2 inch wide poppy-like magenta flowers. Plant in full sun to part shade in a well-drained soil with only occasional irrigation.

The cuttings will be around 2-3" long top parts of the stems. Open rosettes are about 2-3" diameter. They are fresh, not woodsy growth, smaller than prior years' in size, but easier to root
