Description

The listing, QUINOA Cochabamba BLACK (25+ seeds) has ended.

High yielding strain quinoa from Bolivia
Black seed color.
I have been wanting to grow Quinoa for several years because of all the health benefits! I believe this is the highest in protein (12-19%) High in Lysine (essential amino acid that your body needs)
Leaves are also excellent in salads with a mild sweet flavor. Also good if cooked like spinach. When harvesting the seeds, you will want to wash in water to remove saponins which are a natural protectant from insects.
Once considered the "Mother seed" of the Incas. It is a powerhouse of nutrients! It is listed and known as one of the best sources of vegetable protein known in the world. Used as cerial, make breads, flour...many uses.
Grows 4-6ft with large seed heads. States on package it is easy to sprout.
These is an Organic heirloom variety.

Due to a job I have, the hours are ever changing..can be early morning, afternoon and evening plus the drive takes me in opposite direction from post office (not to mention they are not open when I do have time) Please bear with me any winner of these seeds. They will be sent as soon as possible! Right now it seems to be a down time and I'm not on the schedule even tho this can change but I will inform the winner.

This is neat stuff, I'm watching. Have you grown it before or is this your first time.

Hi Deltona, I have never grown this yet but this spring will be my first time. Everything I read about these plants amazes me in the benefits for health. Totally gluten free source for flour, cereal...so many ways to use this! The best for anyone with diabetes and anyone wanting to stay healthy. I am blown away with how the Incas grew some of the most important/healthy food sources in the world!

I've read that it cannot be grown inside but I believe that any plant can be. It would be a test to see plus if you have enough light for it.
