GLASS GEM CORN

Using a blend of three unique heirloom corns, early Native American Indian's would bring us the most beautiful maze/corn in the world. Glass Gems presenting in rich hues ranging from indigo and magenta to shiny pearl black and emerald green kernels are also edible!

Delight your family with the tasty goodness of real homegrown sweet corn (when picked young) or Popping Corn (if picked when the husk have turned completely brown).

A little history: In the 1800's many heirloom seeds belonging to the Native American Indians, were destroyed or lost with their forced relocation's throughout the United States. The Pawnee and Osage were two such tribes. Eventually making their way to Oklahoma, it was their sacred mix of heirloom seeds that would later give birth to the famous Glass Gems.

A little later history: During the turn-of-the-century, a local Oklahoma farmer named, Barnes, began tracing his Native American lineage, which led him to the Pawnee and Osage tribes. In return for his efforts, they each gave Barns many of their treasured and highly unique maze seeds. After years of experimenting with the bold colors, Barns cross-pollinated three heirlooms from the two different tribes to create the brilliant jeweled colors he called Glass Gem.

Introduced to the world in 2012, Glass Gem Corn is still fairly new, yet more gardeners are beginning to enjoy the thrill of growing this unique maze as both an exquisite ornamental and edible addition to their Cottage Kitchen Gardens.

To make popcorn, let Glass Gems dry completely on the husk until the kernels fall off. Once popped they will lose their color but taste great!
