This auction is for a big handful of Walking Onion Sets.
This is a hardy little onion. One of the first to emerge in the spring. They reach maturity in late summer.
When heavy enough, the baby sets pull the plant over to the ground, where the sets can take root & grow into new plants. Hence the name "Walking Onions".
Each cluster can have as few as 2 or as many as 30 sets.
In the ground it will produce a small shallot-like onion that can be harvested.
Plant- Full Sun
Soil- Slightly moist & well Drained
Plant 1-2 inches deep & 3-6 inches apart
Can plant most any time of year as long as the soil can be worked. Can use 1st year but save some plants. They don't produce baby sets until 2nd year.
