I took my homecoming vacation in May 2010.

I visited Pier 21. Pier 21 was were sailors and soldiers boarded boats bound for the UK during both World Wars and immigrants enter Canada.

Saw the HMCS Sackville, the famed corvette during WWII.

The thankless and most brutal job was of the merchant marines of WWII.

Picture yourself as part of crew aboard a tramp ship packed with wheat, timber, pit-props and nickel heading to Scapa Flow.

Your only protection are corvettes and destroyers armed, with depth charges and sonar and a wolfpack of angry U boats on the prowl.
