A STUNNING GARDEN ORNAMENTAL
Growing white-cotton is a joy. Growing beautiful Black-Leaved Cotton is a thrill!

Every stage of its growth from rich dark stems and leaves, to its fushia-purple buds and flowers, right through to its popping white-cotton bolts makes this plant a garden show off. Great for adding contrast or give it a showcase spot, either way Black-Leaved Cotton will draw the attention and praises of your guest.

GROWS: In & Out Doors (will not tolerate frost)
POTS: Yes. The larger your pot, the larger your plant.
GERMINATES: 6-8 days. Flowers 45 days from seed.
GERMINATE INDOORS: 6-8 weeks before last frost in peat pods. Keep moist not wet. Place in warm bright window.
DIRECT SOW: When ground warms (60 degrees and above), add compost to soil and plant 1" deep. Water once a week. Use Tomato fertilizer when two sets of leaves appear. To get cotton bolls to pop: Stop watering plant at 120 days, bolls will crack open around 130-150 days.

ZONES: Annual in all zones. Perennial if potted and taken inside to overwinter.
SUN: Full
SOIL: Add compost.
NOTE: Once the white cotton pops, it is best to remove before the next hard rain.

Hi Natasha . . .starting out a small pot is great but they will want to move to something bigger as seedlings. They average the size of a medium tomato plant, but can grow much larger. You might try more of a med lg pot for full growth. Also, they will desire a great deal of sunlight and get full sun when outdoors. I haven't tried overwintering mine yet-so I think I will do so this season and see how it goes. Seems odd that cotton can be a perennial.

Okeedokie...If you're looking for fun, fast and easy to grow in small containers, then "herbs" win hands down. Today they come in so many kid friendly flavors, including cinnamon, licorice, lemon and on and on :0]
