Yes, a person could use them for anything they want to though. I made the closure part, that goes around the button, long so that depending on the size of shoe, it would still close. Some shoes may be wider or larger than others.

Hi and thank you for you question. When you travel you may take a pair of shoes that you don't want scuffed up or maybe coming in contact with your clothes, one shoe goes in each bag and clothes with the button. Of course, a person could use them for whatever purpose they choose. Have a good day!
