Might be a Bill Murray movie, but you can't leave out John Candy, aka Ox. "You might have noticed I have a slight weight problem. I went to the doctor and he told me I swallowed a lot of aggression, along with a lot of pizzas. I'm basically a shy person. I'm a shy guy and he suggested that I take one of these aggressive training courses, you know like est, those type of things; but they cost $400 bucks to join. $400 bucks to join this thing! Well, I didn't have the money. I thought to myself, join the Army. It's free. So I figured while I'm here, I'll lose a few pounds and you got what? A 6 to 8 week training program here? A real tough one? Which is just perfect for me. I'm gonna walk outta here a lean, mean fightin' machine." Top that off with Warren Oates playing the straight guy as the drill Instructor, and you have a 5 star film. And for TV buffs, years back Warren Oates played as the sidekick partner/friend/mentor to Jack Lord (later in Hawaii 5-0 on the show, 'Stoney Burke'. A side note about Lord though, he almost became Captain Kirk of the Enterprise. Kind of amazing how things pull themselves together based on Stripes. Finally, a piece of trivia for ya ... Bill Murray was once pulled over by Swedish police on suspicion of driving a golf cart under the influence of alcohol. Yeah, Stripes is an awesome movie! I won't be bidding because I already have it, but it is definitely one film to have in a collection. Great auction!!
