You can see in the second picture that, in addition to the inside area, there is a nice sized pocket on the outside of the bag, just right for storing those "quick grab" items like car keys or cell phone. I slipped a piece of paper in there for perspective. NOTE: This is not a canvas bag; it's like the bags you can buy at various stores with the store logo. Just so you know. :-)
