This fan is really beautiful. It has black lace and sparkles which are sequins sewn on here and there, with gold painted accents and a golden color handle. You could hang the fan from the handle/hanger if you needed to set it down for a while. :^)

It seems to be made from plastic with cloth lace, and the handle-hanger appears to be metal. I got it from an estate sale, but don't know much more than that. I don't know how to tell if the plastic is Bakelite, other than what Bakelite I've seen is thick and heavy, while this is not. Very pretty fan, folds and unfolds fine.

Measurements: almost 10 inches long, about an inch and 1/2 thick when folded, about 3/4 inch wide. When unfolded, about 17-1/2 inches, end to end. The ribs seem to be sewn on, the gold accents are not well done and some seems to have rubbed off. The handle has a tiny repeated pattern embossed into it that looks like a flower inside a diamond shape. Looks old to me, but not like Civil War or anything. More like maybe the 40's or 50's...?
