Yes, it charges the built in battery and transfers music to and from. Anyone's computer will automatically recognize it and you can put the music directly on it or sync the music with windows media player. (Just answering future questions.)

Ok I am really dumb with these new things but my grandson wants one of these for Christmas; Is this one for a 17 year old or for a younger one my Grandson is 17, I read the above caption so am I right that his laptop that I just got him will charge this?

Just about any age can use this, except maybe 6 and under. It will charge on anything with a usb port, which even the mac computer can do. So it will definitely charge and transfer music to it.

It will work just fine for your Grandson, he is definitely old enough. And his laptop will charge it. Unfortunately, no, it is not a touchscreen.

No, it won't hold more than 4 gigs, there is not a memory card slot. Does not require one.
