Description

The listing, Used 10" Android Tablet -- Viewsonic gTablet has ended.

This auction is for a 10-inch Android tablet called the Viewsonic gTablet.

Let's rip this bandage off quickly: The gTablet does NOT support the official Google Android Marketplace. HOWEVER, it's simple to load Amazon's Android App Store onto the device and get a lot of value out of that. It also makes a fantastic e-Reader with Amazon's Kindle app.

Spec-wise: The gTablet has a 10-inch multitouch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1024x600, a 1 GHz dual-core NVIDIA Tegra 2 ARM CPU, 512 Mbytes of RAM, 16 Gbytes of internal flash storage, microSD slot, 802.11 b/g/n wifi connectivity, Bluetooth, mini-USB (to connect to a PC), USB 2.0 (for connecting a flash drive), front-facing 1.3 Mpixel camera, built-in microphone, accelerometer. The software it runs is Android 2.2 (the one codenamed 'Froyo').

The gTablet can play movies and photo slideshows. It can play music. It can browse the web (though I recommend downloading the free Opera Mobile app via the Amazon App Store). The tablet also comes with the Adobe Flash Player (version 10.2). It can run many Android apps that can be downloaded or side-loaded.

I have had this gTablet for a few months. It has served me well during that period of time and I have used a lot of fun and productive apps (both free and paid) that I downloaded through the Amazon App Store. Why am I parting with it now? My wife won an iPad 2 in a recent raffle (that's right-- people really do win iPads sometimes; I was surprised too!). I'm using the iPad so much now that there's little reason to hold onto this.

Before I send the gTablet, I will restore it to a factory default state and install Amazon's App Store.

If you're interested in Android hacking, you can use this tablet with various after-market firmware mods such as CyanogenMod.

Questions are welcome. Shipping is on me (in the original box). I hope the tablet finds a happy new home. Happy bidding!

I have NO experience with kindle. Don't know how it works, etc...I am somewhat literate on the computer. Is this something I could learn and use to it's full potential?

Tablets are meant to be simple to learn and use. Do you at least have access to a wireless network? Without one, this device won't be very useful.

I'm somewhat new to all of this, I've got pretty much everything figured out except for one thing? How is a raffle different from an auction since I have to place a bid? Is the winner actually chosen randomly regardless of who places the winning bid?

I don't know how raffles operate on Listia. But that doesn't matter since this isn't a raffle. This is an auction, so the person who puts in the highest bid wins.

What about FedEx/UPS rates? Are those the same as for domestic? I will probably want to send this in a trackable manner.

Hello!

Any chance you'd ship to Canada? Sorry to ask - I know you said no shipping internationally, but I've found that a lot of sellers who say that often mean they don't want to have to send it super-far away, to Asia or something, but will send it to Canada.

Thanks!

Sorry, no. It's not just about shipping costs. As soon as something hits the border, things like customs and import fees start hanging overhead.

If that tablet has a usb slot you can get a wireless modem so it will access the internet :)

That's left as an exercise to the reader (and high bidder). I won't warrant that will work.

Dec 17th, 2011 at 4:35:21 PM PST by

No, it does not come with a case. For that purpose, I have used a plain brown bubble envelope. It works marvelously and does not draw attention to itself. :-)
