The package for the white sweater says XX-small fits 6" - 8". It lists maltese under X-small. Sorry, I don't have better info for you, but I hope this helps. I have a few X-small outfits I'm putting up asap.

If your chihuahua is anything like mine they need the sweaters to keep warm during the winter months.

My chihuahua is probably 4 or 5 lbs. The sweaters still fit but are a little tight. If it helps you can kind of see how big he is in my profile pic. I don't think they would fit over 5 lbs. I hope this helps a little.
