I read on the model number directly off of the inside of the battery casing

That explains it - I checked on eBay and that's the model number for the battery.
The phone's model number can be found in "settings" - "about phone".

No when I take the battery out and read the label on the phone directly that's the model number that it shows and yes it is a 3G version phone but 3G is not a model number
