The fruit takes at least 120 days for maturation. Sow the seed in planting soil at a depth of ¾ to 1 inch deep and water them in well. Germination will occur between 9-14 days. Once the banana squash plants have two or three sets of leaves, they can be transplanted 9-12 inches apart. It grows here in Idaho but the shoots will die if too cold like other shoots. It is easily grown here and withstands the heat which can be considerable here. the seeds are heirloom and they are not normally sold except to large growers. Does this help?

The squash can weigh up to 40 lbs each! YUM! You can use them like any other winter squash in savory dishes as boiled, fried, and roasted, but can also be used in pies!

Yes, Thank you. All I can do is try, as far as growing it. It sounds like a great veggie for food security, If one can get some to grow.

Growing them is easy, just like other squash. Problem would be place as they take lots of room. Fertilize when first planting, none after as you would be just fertilizing the green part of the plant. :)
