you are right on hoping you never need one. I had a friend burn to death because he couldnt .get out of his seatbelt in a wreck and I swear by them now. fanned back..

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. In my Senior year in high school we had a girl that got hit by a drunk driver and the car caught on fire. The passenger got out but she, like your friend, couldn't get her seat belt unlatched and burned alive.
