The listing, HP/Compaq Windows-XP Pro (SP2) Recovery CD (32-bit) has ended.

This Recovery CD can be used to reinstall a FULL version of Microsoft Windows-XP Professional onto any HP/Compaq Desktop, Notebook or even a Workstation that originally came with Windows-XP installed. You can
quickly tell by looking for the COA (CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY) on the unit. This CD does not require you to enter a Product Key as it is an OEM version designed for HP/Compaq systems. NOTE: This CD will NOT work on other brands of computers without a valid Product Key.

If you can not read the CD in the picture it says, "Operating System CD Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2, Contains software and
drivers already installed, For software reinstallation and repair only. English - For distribution only with a new HP or Compaq PC. Support for these products provided by HP.

I have used these CDs in the Field as an HP Certified Repair Tech for years, I have used them on the following systems, just as an example, without any issues and will work with hundreds more:

Notebooks:
Compaq Armada 110, m300, m700, 1500 series
HP Omnibook xe4100, xt6050, 6000, 6100, 6120
Compaq Presario R4115US, N610c
HP Pavilion zd7020
Compaq nc6120, nc8000

Desktops:
Compaq D220, D228, D230, D510, D530

Workstations:
HP/Compaq xw4100, XW6000, XW6200, XW8400

The CD is sealed in the original sleeve as it was shipped from HP, this is not a copy, it was manufactured by HP. HP Part# 409457-003

Questions & Comments

Does this only REinstall Windows? Or could you use it to install windows on a computer that has never had it before?

If it's an HP or Compaq Desktop or Notebook made since 2002 then this will install Windows=XP Pro on it. It does not have to have had anything on it before, just as if you had to replace a bad hard drive, it would come to you blank and this would install Windows for you. The big key is that it MUST be an HP or Compaq computer. Hope that helps.

I repeat - Then you'll need to find a Store bought version, this is an OEM version specifically for HP/Compaq computers.
