Suggested limit is 225, but mine has held 250 repeatedly :) I'd suggest caution testing more than 225 ~ hope that's helpful & thanks for checking out my auction :)

If I toss this in a backpack, how much space does it take up...bout the same as 2 packs of cigarettes?

Probably, or about the size of a softball maybe ~ very small & very light weight ~ perfect for camping/backpacking/hiking :)
