50 ORGANIC HOLLYHOCK SEEDS FROM MY GARDEN TO YOURS! ---These Hollyhocks are mixed colors of pink, rosy pink, white, and a light pink with a rosy pink center(heirloom). They will grow taller if you add fertilizer to the soil--up to 6 ft. or more. I always add compost myself! The history behind Hollyhocks is this---They were first introduced to America in 1631. Also, Hollyhocks were first used medicinally to soothe swellings in horse's heels--(from the book titled "Brooklyn Botanic Gardens Old Fashioned Flowers"-- by Tovah Martin/Guest Editor)a very nice little book about old fashioned flowers. AND! They were usually grown near the "Outhouse" in the "good old days". When ladies would ask where the Hollyhocks were it was a politer way of asking where the "Outhouse" was! lol Aren't we glad we now have indoor plumbing (especially where it snows) these days? I found out this interesting fact was also true for the Morning Glory flower.Hollyhocks are self seeding so you will get plenty of seed from them too.Happy bidding!
