The listing, 8.4" tablet PC / handheld computer - Salton ePods One EP1 has ended.
Giving away an ePods One tablet computer. Originally an "Internet Appliance," this tablet has been unlocked to a full Windows CE 2.11 tablet.
While it CAN get online, the Mobile Internet Explorer 4.0 browser is outdated so most current web sites won't work. So it's really best suited as a doodle pad for drawing on the screen, eBook reader, or for playing chess, tetris, or other simple games.
(If you are a propeller hat wearer -- i.e. nerd -- you can use Remote Desktop / Terminal Services to control your other PCs and browse online that way though. And you can use many PCMCIA cards for storage or connectivity. Dial-up, ethernet, or wifi all work) This is a slow tablet though -- it can be made to run Linux but will never run Android for example.
It features an 8.4" 640 x 480 LCD touch screen, which displays 256 colors and an onscreen keyboard for typing (USB keyboards can be plugged in too). The ePodsOne has 2 USB ports, a serial port, an IrDA 1.1 infrared port, an internal microphone, and headphone and microphone jacks. It also has a PCMCIA Type II slot and a CompactFlash Type II slot.
Runs Windows CE 2.11, you can add programs by connecting to your PC over ActiveSync, or by putting them on the CompactFlash card.
Reads .doc, .rtf, .txt, and .html files. Also reads MobiPocket .prc books, and should be able to read .epub and .pdf with a newer version of MobiPocket Reader.
Battery only lasts 5-10 minutes so tablet needs to be plugged in to work. The battery is replaceable so you should be able to get a new one if you wanted.
