how far apart will they pick up?

looked them up on google and the original packaging states 2 miles but many factors play a part in radio range like terrain flat or mountains buildings and structures and power lines if your gonna use them indoors or out lots of things affect radio range weather conditions battery life and so on in ideal conditions 2 miles
