It will give you an option of area codes, then assign you a phone number....and if you want to set up your own personal phone number, it costs a little extra. Anyway...this will save you the $20-25. This is Model 1. They now have a model 2 with more features.

I THINK you're asking if it's new and never used. Is that it? If so, my son-in-law gave me this. He bought 3 of them, one for each of their computers, but decided not to put one on a certain computer. He said it wasn't used, and I have no reason to think he would lie to me about it. I just now stuck it into a USB port and it lights up. We already have Magic Jack, so I don't need it for myself.

Well, I don't think Magic Jack will let you use the service for free, however, you can't use it without this gadget, and this gadget costs $20-25 when you go buy it. The fee to use Magic Jack is, if I remember right, about $19.99 a YEAR! It's by far the best deal going. There IS one drawback....your computer MUST be ON to use it.
