I am watching this. I just love to get lost in putting together a jigsaw puzzle so thanx for listing this. I make these kind of eggs. They are called "pysanky" and are Ukrainian in origin. The design is traditionally drawn with a pencil on eggs that have had the insides blown out so they are empty whole shells -- yes, very fragile! Then using wax and a series of special dyes selected parts of the drawn design are waxed over leaving the rest unwaxed. Then the egg is dipped into the lightest dye (usually yellow), waxed on another part of the design then dipped into a second dye. This goes on -- waxing & dipping -- until finished. Then the egg is somehow warmed so the wax melts off and the design is left. Tedious, challenging, and so beautiful -- once you get the hang of it, that is! I dropped one once and it broke into pieces and I was almost done! Yikes! I just started another one right away. That's how to do it!

I forgot to write that this puzzle would mean something special to me because I have made quite a few of the eggs. Maybe I should list them on Listia some day? I am a pretty good packer so I think they would survive shipping.

I have (somewhere!) a website to order the wax, dyes, and other stuff you might need. Let me know if you would like it. I can email it to you.
