The listing, 1947 bond bread Autographed JOHN SAIN Card has ended.

This is a 1947-48 bond bread card hand signed by john sain. I collected this set for years and the history behind this set is a big mystery and very confusing so i wont go on and on about them, but if you read about them this is the square card not the round. I have the round and sent both the round and the square to sain by mail and about 5 months got both back signed back in 2001 he died in 2006. He was a great pitcher and a greater pitching coach. BUT CHECK THIS OUT! he was the last pitcher to pitch to babe ruth and the first to pitch to jackie robinson in a major league game I always thought that was amazing !! look it up! The autograph is 100% real i never doubted he signed it the signature is exact to any of his others that ive seen. Nice piece of history you cant get anymore. He was a star for the boston braves with warren spahn thanks

a couple questions... is this a regular sized card (2.5x3.5im)...this was made in 1947 and not a reprint... great auction though!

The card is 3and 1 half inches long and 2 and a quarter inches wide These cards are confusing because they reproduced these from other pictures to make these cards. There is even a double back version with bob hope on the back of the sain card made for a different company. Want to hear something funny i had the yogi berra round edge card from this set that said larry berra sent it to him told him if he could sign it larry berra and i never got it back!!! lol

There is no year the back is blank and when i bought it it said 1947 homoginized bond john sain card on the plastic card holder. as far as i know its 1947

The story goes that they found slabs of these cards in a warehouse in the 80s and they were from the 47 set. They then cut them with a straight edge and since i got this in new york im pretty sure thats what i got because the card just doesnt look to be 65 yrs old because it sat in the warehouse for over forty years but the autograph is genuine THAT I know !and so is the card but it just wasnt in the bread! i think
