The listing, (4) Vintage GLASS Christmas ORNAMENTS OWC Rooster – GDR TEDDY – Inge Pinecone STOCKING has ended.
Up for auction are four glass Christmas ornaments that my daughter (who is a teacher) has received over the years. Because of pets, she never placed anything breakable on her tree. The two loose ones came without boxes.
*First is the Inge Glass Pinecone. I believe this one is retired. Measures 4-1/2" long. Inge Glas of Germany uses only high grade German glass, lead free paints, laquers and glitter. Original box included.
The pinecone has the traditional 5-point star crown hanging loop, which represents the 5 points of the company (check here for more info) : http://www.christmascentral.com/t-About-Inge-Glas-Christmas-Ornaments.aspx
*Next is the Old World Christmas Rooster (more glittery than photo shows). Mouth blown, hand painted, glass ornament from Merck Family's Old World Christmas. Original box included.
According to legend, the rooster has only crowed once at midnight. This was to announce the birth of Baby Jesus. For this reason, Spanish and Latin American Countries call midnight mass on Christmas Eve the Mass of the Rooster, or "Misa del Gallo."
*The glass Teddy, in a hand painted Yellow Vest with Red Bow Tie, is made in GDR (German Democratic Republic) w/ initials on the cap. This has a "flake" of gold paint missing on the back (see enlarged photo). It looks black on the photo, but is really silver, and not even noticeable! It shows up because it photoed black. I found it because I try to go over everything carefully. That's the way it came, so may have been there from production.
*Last is the Christmas Stocking. It has no identification that I could see, but has a cap identical to ones used by MidWest Cannon Falls.
There you have it! Four ornaments for one bid! Smoke-free home.
