This Router is mediocre. We have 2 different routers, one for the comp and one for the PS3, and this router actually slows your internet connection. Its not horrible, but there are better routers on the market.

Yes there are better routers on the market, but for a 'G' router the WRT54G is arguably the best. This will easily serve the needs of many people, no problems at all.

And it's free.

It does include a power cord, it does -not- include an installation CD, but you should not need one. If you need assistance in setting it up, I can probably point you in the right direction. :^)

Probably, but no installation CD is necessary at all. There are any number of websites that can walk you through installing this router, which is a very simple process that is basically plug & play.

This site contains the manual and all the info you need to set it up. If this is too much for you, you probably have a brother or close friend who can do this for you in about 5 minutes. :^)

Does the router have a password that needs to be reset or anything? I bought a used router in the past from a thrift store which had the password set on the configuration page. No way to contact the owner to find out the password because it was donated anonymously.

The router has been reset to default, which for a Linksys router means the username is blank, and the password is "admin."

nightprowler537, all you have to do for that other router is hold the reset button in for 10 seconds, then use the factory default username and password. If you still have it, tell me the brand and I can tell you the default username and password.

what is the ver #? should be on the sticker on the bottom next to model #. there are about 15 ver. of this model. ver # tells me how much memory is installed.

Yup. It's a version 8. It does have less memory, which will not affect normal users at all. This comes into play when installing DD-WRT, or other alternative firmware, again, something that the average user would not be doing. I have another version on which I have successfully been using DD-WRT for years. I know it is possible to install it on a v.8, but it takes a little extra kung-fu. has this unit ever been flashed with any other operating system----this would be perfect for dd-wrt i have flashed another linksys router similar to this one works better then stock settings.....fanned and watching

ALERT: This is not an issue for the casual user. David621: It has not been flashed with DD-WRT or any other firmware. It is a v.8, so it takes some additional effort to install DD-WRT, as it has less memory than some other models, but it is possible. I have flashed DD-WRT to another model I have, which I will probably auction off after this one. It is great. :^)
