In Egypt, he was known as THOTH. In Greece he was known as Hermes Trismegistus. He was the God of writing & the patron of all arts dependant on writing. Athanasius Kircher was a German Jesuit Scholar that believed Hermes was actually Moses. "The Emerald Tablets" and "Corpus Hermeculum" are both written works by Hermes, written near or in and around Moses' times.

As for the cards, they are in great shape, but they have been used lightly and the box is a bit torn up. They also didn't come with the book, so I spent some money getting the book because I had been planning on using them, as I have been studing Hermes/THOTH for many, many years now and I thought I would "mesh" with this deck easily. I didn't. I went through all my favorites and believe this deck just isn't meant to be mine.

So, my loss is your gain. So, the accompanying book is perfect as I just bought it from Amazon not that long ago.
