Description

The listing, AMD Athlon XP 2500+ AXDA2500DKV4D, Socket A CPU has ended.

This CPU was in my main system for several years until I built an LGA775 system four years ago, This CPU went into the closet and has remained there ever since. It was top of the line until 64 bit systems hit the market. It is a Barton Core Athlon so do your research and be sure your motherboard is compatibile. Shipping is flat rate $3.00.

The number is AQXEA 0406XPMV. The multiplier is not unlocked. When I first bought the chip I tried overclocking it but the only way I could do it was by increasing the FSB to 200 Mhz. It then would run as an XP 3200+. However I was not warm and fuzzy about leaving it at that setting so I backed it down to stock settings. I was very pleased with its performace as a 2500+. To the best of my knowledge only the mobile (MA) version of Barton cores had unlocked multiplers. This was a retail box CPU, purchased in 2004 and it is not the MA version.

I know there is a method to unlock the multiplier by cutting and bridging certain lands on the chip, but I am of the philosophy to not perform any mod that cannot be undone.
