This is a special whistle 4" long x 2 1/2" wide and 3/4" thick. If I had to guess, I'd say it was from South America and made out of terra cota.It has 4 "toothpick" sized holes on the front and two on the back. By covering certain holes with your fingers you make sounds of different notes. I'm not sure how well tuned it is. I have kept it for years as a wall decoration in my ethnic instrument collection. It has a nice long string to loop around your neck.
