This auction is for a generous 100+ Purple Tree Rose Of Sharon Seeds. Your soil will determine the light to darker colors. It is a member of the Hibiscus family and very versatle and easy to grow. The seeds come from my own trees.. They can grow to 12 feet if you would love them for a privacy fence. Prune after the flowers quit blooming in late fall to your desired height. You can grow them in pots for your patio or you can prune to a single stem.
I like to start now in trays or pots and then transfer where I want them . To start early, soak your seeds overnight. Water the soil in your pots. place a few seeds on top and cover with 1/2" of soil. Water again and then mist daily until they sprout, in around 2 weeks. Then water as needed. A sunny window or room is needed.
A little water is all they require.They will have a great start and be established by spring.. I would mulch the first year. They can also be planted in early spring directly in the ground. They are not picky about soil. You will have beautiful trees, plants or bushes for many years to come. You can also root very easy buy just planting a branch in the soil with some rooting hormone added or root in a container of water. The trees can also be transplanted any where you would like.
Germination is 10 weeks or less. They are a beautiful fast grower requiring little care. I never water the trees that make my fence row and I can count on them every year to be beautiful in several months of hot humid weather. They are not an expensive hybrid, but look as though they are. Some of my trees are almost 20 years old, a very hardy flower bush, stem or tree. You can save your own seeds at the end of the blooming season when the pods turn brown. Dry in a cool dark place in a paper bag. Store in an envelope for your planting season.
