The listing, ORNATE BLACK FOREST CUCKOO CLOCK WITH BEAUTIFUL LEAVES Needs a little help has ended.
What I have appears to be in excellent condition to me it is beautiful carved but if you notice it is missing the acorns weights and bottom swinging pendulum. I am clueless how to make it work and I haven't done anything because I don't want to break it. Thanks so much for looking this is pretty large so it is going to be shipped in a priority box.
Questions & Comments
They usually last 1 day when completely wound..My father was born in Trier Germany & we own a few BF clocks & plate shelves..rarely does any camera pick up the depth & richness of the wood..Great GIN deal & watching this lovely :))
Hey Susan you are right the wood is beautiful alot if why I grabbed it up such a nice piece despite its missing parts thank you I wonder where are geese friends have went to this year?
The top of the chalet where the hooks are probably did hold a bird carving or type of top but it looks like it's been made to be low key, no little Heinzelmännchen or bright paints, and to the gal that said you'd get it now, I would too, but if you truly knew about them you'd know the cones and pendulum are all it takes to make it work, as long as they are weighted to the size of the chalet...It's all about gravity...
My Grandmother had one of these. My Uncle brought it to her when he was in service and stationed in germany . I grew up with it hanging on her wall we just loved it when it cuckoo my Aunt got it after she past on and she has it on her wall and it is still working ,
It's on original Black Forest Cuckoo, The person who said they grew up their is very lucky...I'd never leave that beautiful land!!!! The Pine cones need to be a certain weight for each individual clock, and since each one is hand made, you'll need to take it to a clock maker or watch/clock repair shop, they might be able to match them or have a connection who does. the top clips if they are perfectly equal to each other are to hang it by cuz once you get the right pendulum and pine cone weights you are not to move it at all once it is going on the wall, they are supper sensitive and every little arm inside has an important part Once set they run for 24 hours.. They are usually handed down for hundreds of years through German families. They are amazing!!!
No the Metal clip there goes some leace from one end to the other,i am German and you can get in EBAY the Pendal and the Pin corn for about $ 4.00 but this is not only problem, when buyer get it Clock got be hang straight on the wall no gape,or Clock does not work,if it take not right time ,take both time handles and go with both around one time to 12 Clock to set right time! then Clock works perfect, this clock is a pretty one !
Thanks so much george I appreciate all the help that should give the winner a idea on how to use it. I am absolutely clueless and I don't want to hurt it.
