The listing, Quince Bush - 10+ Seeds! has ended.
Quince is a fruit that was very popular in Middle Ages and Victorian era cooking, but is rarely seen in supermarkets today. It looks much like an apple... *but it is not an apple* . Not to be eaten raw (it's just very fibrous), but there are some wonderful recipes available online. The fragrance of these is indescribably awesome!
As for growing, these can be grown much like an apple, but they grow into a rather compact bush instead of a sprawling tree. Untrimmed, they will probably max out around 15-20ft. These were manicured into a nice high hedge, but trim during the dormant season so as not to impact the fruit yield or hurt the tree. These fruit in abundance in October into November, so get your broom ready and be prepared to fight the squirrels off of these - they love to shake them down.
These come from my neighbors bush - he thought they were some kind of apple and had no idea why they were so hard. I made a few tubs of quince paste, and cracked open the cores to get the seeds.
This auction is for 10+ seeds.
