Up for your consideration is a DYMO LetraTag Label Maker. This thing works really well. You can buy different color tapes and it has different fonts and different sizes. You can save commonly used labels and open them to use at another time (no computer needed!).

If you use it a lot, I would suggest getting rechargeable batteries - which if you share it, you should label that they are rechargeable because your coworkers/kids could toss them instead of charge them (speaking from experience).

I will include whatever tape is left in the machine, but I don't think it's a lot, so you should assume that it is empty. You can find information about the costs of the tape by googling "dymo 1/2"x13'".
