Description

The listing, NetGear CGD24G 54 Mbps 4-Port 10/100 Wireless G Modem Router Combo has ended.

Netgear Wireless CGD24G Router and Cable Modem combination, This 54 Mbps wireless, Ethernet, USB Internet gateway provides state-of-the-art
filtering and controls allowing parents and administrators to limit URL access and monitor Internet activities. And it's equipped with a double firewall (SPI + NAT) protection to secure computers and networks against hackers.

For complete high-speed wireless networking, this combination DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem,802.11g wireless access point, wireless router, and 4-port switch with plug-and-play™ USB connectivity does it all. It supplies complete network cable access with firewall protection so home users can enjoy instant high-speed Web access, file sharing, video streaming, head-to-head Internet game-playing, and MP3 downloading with no external modem required. The external antenna takes care of connectivity without any need for a PC card in the unit. Provides immediate high-speed wireless flexibility. A built-in external antenna eliminates the need for a PC card, and the built-in 802.11g wireless access point extends a network to support up to 54 Mbps throughput without requiring any new cabling.

Four 10/100 Ethernet ports support up to 253 networked computers. Auto-partitioning on each port protects each installed computer from damaged network connections. The integrated modem is DOCSIS™ 2.0 certified for improved upstream bandwidth utilization and noise immunity.

Double firewall with stateful packet inspection (SPI) and NAT (Network Address Translation) secures your network against hackers. NAT Firewall with VPN (virtual private network) pass-through protects against Internet attacks, and auto-partitioning on each port protects each installed computer from damaged network connections. URL content filtering and time-of-day usage limits give parents and administrators ultimate control over user access. Emailed reports of browsing activities and optional real-time email alerts provide further input on user activity.

nice auction. fanned and watching. will this work with U-verse internet (thru the phone lines) as there is no coaxial? thanks!
Jan 12th, 2012 at 9:53:30 AM PST by
Original
no sweetie Im sorry but it wont. u-verse is an advanced form of ADSL or DSL as its referred to and comes into he home via a fiber optic connection. The equipment to decode u-verse is proprietary with ATT. They should be providing you with a router with wireless and a 4 port ethernet connection that will operate similar to this.

u-verse provides a wireless gateway modem, that comes with a 4 port ethernet connection as u said. I also see a coax cable outlet on it also. I wanted to buy Roku, and Roku needs a router soooo, I thought I might be able to use ur's. thanks for helping me .lol!

If you havent already bought a Roku and you want unsolicited advice, DONT. I can recommend alot of better and cfairly priced options for getting netflix and hulu and other streaming content that arent as buggy.

I would buy an internet ready blu ray player. It will give you everything the roku does with a much better picture plus the ability to play blu ray dvds.

I am a newbie to routers...I have a newer computer using windows 7, this will work with it? And if I have this router I plug my coax from the wall right into it without the need for the cable modem? Is that right?
Jan 14th, 2012 at 11:39:13 AM PST by
Original
Yes. You will put the coax from the wall into the port on the back while the modem is powered off. You will then boot up the modem and wait for lights to go steady. If you are using a wired connection to your pc or laptop, you should be plugged in to one of the 4 ports. After lights are steady you should be able to browse. If it doesnt automatically synch up with your cable company, you just have to call them and give them the info off the label on the modem and you will be ready to go. If you are using wireless, they should be able to help you set that up over the phone or email me and I will give you instructions.
