Made in japan (marked on bottom of shell), this was purchased as a souvenir from a trip to galveston, tx. you brought back a souvenir, and there were many shell figurines.

i have a collection of shell art and am downsizing a little bit. hard for me to part with these but hopefully someone else will enjoy them as well.

it seems vintage shell art has fallen in the art of collecting and i think that is a shame as it was great folk art from way before victorian times up until 1990s.

this was handmade using a larger shell for the base, then another shell as the boat with wood, string.

it measures approximately 7" tall and 5" across from the bottom base. all in excellent condition. great for your collection of shell art.
