Description

The listing, Central Park in Winter by William Glackens from the Metropolitan Museum of Art has ended.

It measures 10.5" by 9" and is a little over 1/4" thick.
The rubber stoppers are missing from the back side but otherwise it's in great shape. I think it's from the 60's or 70's but I'm not sure. I got it at an antique store and don't know any history. The tag said was a "Vintage Plaquard". I do know that it depicts a lovely Victorian skating scene from Central Park. I fell in love with it when I saw it but my tastes and decorating style have changed through the years and it's time for someone else to enjoy it.

Shipping is free and I ship on the next postal business day after receiving the winner's info.

I have placed 5 bids and each time I am told that I have been out bid. What does this mean. I don't like being jerked around. Please explain.

Please see the other comments. Beachbunny explained it much better than I could have.

Hi Butts,
I'm not the seller but I can answer your question. When you bid they ask for your highest bid. Then they post your bid just a tad higher than the current bid and will keep bidding for you until someone bids more than your "highest bid". You don't know what someone else is willing to pay in points until you bid more than they did.
Some times it's a lot higher than you are willing to go. That's happened many times to me.

Yes, it sucks.

I agree it does suck sometimes, but it's also very handy when you can't be in front of the computer when an auction ends. I use it alot when there's something I want that ends in the middle of the night. That way I don't have to sit up and wait on it.

From now on when I bid on something and I get that response I will just go to something else. It has taken all the fun out of bidding.

It is much more fun to bid against someone else in person. But it is a great time saver for those who just put in the maximum they want to spend and walk away.

It's a 1/4" thick hard board of some kind with a beveled edge on the front side only. Thanks for looking and asking!

I'm pleased to make your aquaintance! I can see why you think online auctions aren't as much fun. I hope you'll stick around and give us all some pointers! :)

Wow, this "Butts" guy just blew my mind. Can't believe hes upset with this, have you have used an internet auction before? Bother reading any of the FAQ or the video tutorial? And blaming the seller and claiming to be jerked around is ridiculous.
