UPDATE UPDATE !!! Some of you emailed and asked if this would work with a non-digital ready TV so to leave no doubt I have addes the APEX DT250 Digitsl TV Converter. This will bring in Digital TV with the antenna and includes a channel guide displaying program info. You can see in illustration #2 (third pic) the use of the converter box.

You would need an HDTV to get the uncompressed 1080 picture, but this also will give even an older model tv access to digital over air programming via the converter box. This is a great link to explain this:

We have 2 older tvs that are hooked to a converter box which of course is connected to our outside antenna. However, when we leave both tvs hooked up (using a splitter), we start to lose signal on some channels and lose others entirely. Would these help to eliminate that problem? thanks

When you split the signal, think of it like splitting a water hose. You split signal in half or worse depending on the length of the cable you run to the TV. This device would help but its also for indoor and I wouldnt recommend it for two TVs. If you install this device outside between your antenna and your splitter it will make a huge difference for $20

what is the distance range on this antenna? ie: how many miles away from dtv towers can it get signal?

Antennas dont have distance ratings. This map will show you what stations upou can pick up from where you live.

oh yes they do have distance ratings. most antennas only go to about 20 miles. i live 31 miles from the DTV towers and dont get any signal (Yes, ZERO channnels with the converter box and an outside antenna!) at all because the antenna only goes to 20 mile range. it should say on the box what the distance range is. And the fcc engineering maps only tell you where the towers are - not weather you can pick them up with an antenna. so - thats why the distance-range question. sorry - im not trying to be contrary, i just need to know if this will work for me as i've been going stark raving mad with no TV for 3 years! i'd kill for an antenna that worked for me, lol!

Guys, for those of you bidding seriously on this auction, I will help any way I can. Please review these digital technologies at dtv.gov. Digital recception does NOT work the same as analog. Digital TV works in a straight line of sight while analog signal bends and can bounce off objects. This is a great articel written to explain more.

Yes you can use the converter box withot this antenna. You can use any antenna.
