You can use a swinging incense burner or a ceramic cauldron. Something fireproof. It burns well, so you don't have to worry about it going out until it has all burned. I suggest you get dragons blood resin incense to go with it, that increases the protective properties.
Really, you do not even have to have a ritual item to burn it in, just something cleansed and consecrated, and as I said, fireproof. Best to have a protective incantation or sigil to go with it.
