The listing, ***L@@k Hand Painted Egyptian Papyrus by Emad Ekram Attia*** has ended.
This auction is for a hand painted Egyptian papyrus signed by Emad Ekram who founded Jirmit Papyrus a fair trade organization from Egypt (heres info from the web: Jirmit Papyrus is a registered fair trade organization that was established in 1990 by Emad Ekram Attia. Emad began making papyrus cards to support himself through college. After graduating, he worked as an engineer for a major firm in a neighboring country, but he longed to make a difference back in Egypt. He decided to return home and start his own business – Jirmit Papyrus – as a way to generate work for unemployed young people in the Egyptian town of Mallawi. In this regional capital in Upper Egypt, about 300 kilometers south of Cairo, employment opportunities are hard to find, even for those with university degrees. Artisans working with this family-owned workshop make hand-painted cards, bookmarks, and other art on authentic Egyptian papyrus.). This papyrus is about 15 years old and depicts queen Nefertari and Hathor, and the scene was taken from the Tomb of Nefertari in The Valley of Queens, Egypt. It is in good condition with a couple bends in the papyrus. The paint itself is in great condition with hardly any chipping. This is signed by the artist Emad Ekram. It will come in a plastic cover which it was bought with, the cover has a lot of paint dust in it but does not affect the actual painting. This can be removed from the cover if winner wants to frame. I actually removed to take the photos. Its size is about 8 X 11 1/2 inches. Is a interesting thing to have. Thanks for looking (:
